The Beggars

- (28/10/09 18:09)
Certain things amuse me sometimes and being the person i am, i just try to laugh them off cos it's my big secret of trying not to 'lose it'. We, Nigerians, are all to familiar with beggars across our major roads. We see them in different costumes, shapes and sizes. They also have various modus operandi - indeed, i once saw a man begging for alms with a megaphone! Worsestill, some are so bold that they accost you at ATM outlets (maybe they think i'd withdraw money purposely for them or can anybody please give me another reason they'd do that?). Anyway, it's of no use trying to waste a whole blog on such people but something struck me recently that made me think. I was in a cab and we were held up in a traffic as the traffic warden tried to control the movement of cars; just then a 'crippled' man wheeled to our car to beg for money. Well, trust the ever-religious Nigerians, someone gave him some notes. However, just as he was putting the money in his pocket, i noticed he had quite a.....

Matured Me

- (14/10/09 17:33)
When people say that the older one gets, the more matured one becomes, i usually take that statement with a pinch of salt. However, after actually taking close look at myself, i really think they are right. I mean, when i was still quite an up and coming blog writer, i was always striving to be recognised among the top votes - indeed my sole aim of writing blogs was to become the number one blog writer. Unfortunately, i never achieved that and i still haven't but the funny thing was that i usually acted as though i never gave a hoot about the votes but the fact is i was usually among those that logged on early in the morning on the first of every month just to check who's on the top vote list! Such a hypocrite lol. Anyway, it just came to my mind right now that i've not even checked the list in over 6months and i've been on kobra eversince. Hmm, i guess having spent close to 2years on kobra has kinda made me more matured afterall. Do i still wanna be voted as no1? Well, i dont know lol

7point Agenda

- (9/10/09 16:56)
Oh, i bet you must have probably heard about this phrase a sextillion times (that's 21 zeros after 1). If you haven't, then there are possibly two reasons for that: you either haven't been in Nigeria for the past 2years or you are a ghost reading this blog! I hope nobody is in the latter or is there? The point is that leaders generally tend to be reknowned for certain phrases which they coin for themselves during their administration. Countless examples litter the world over; and i just find it quite amusing that despite how much criticism has been thrown at the feet of Nigeria's president, he has quietly created a catchphrase for himself. While OBJ may go down as the 'i dey kampe' maestro, my 'dear' Yar'Adua will be remembered as the '7point agenda' man. Isn't that awesome for a man who was predicted will die before even completing his first year in office?

For The Male Folk

- (6/10/09 15:40)
I usually end up smiling most times when i think about certain issues in life. For example, i saw a man hanging precariously to the driver's seat of a lorry on a busy road this afternoon and i couldn't but help think about why men( i literally mean the male folk) like engaging in dangerous activities. We are the ones who get wounded while playing in the nursery playground; when it comes to street fights, daredevil stunts, nightmarauding etc, we are numero uno. It's no wonder men usually die before their wives generally! We struggle to cater for the kids and family all our lives but due to reckless living and accumulation of old wounds and injuries, we are long gone when the kids grow old; leaving behind the mother to 'reap our benefits'. Hmm, guess that's the way life goes lol....see, i'm smiling again!

Blog Money

- (26/09/09 16:31)
I, recently, read an article in a newspaper which talked about the ways of making money through blogs. That, then, got me thinking how much money some folks would have made on this site if blogs were to be paid for. What i'm however not so sure of is the criteria a blog must meet before it qualifies to receive money - is it the blog's content that matters or is it about the volume of the blog? Whatever the case, i just think it's a great idea to get paid for one's blogs. Afterall, it's a product of one's ability! So, kobra administrators, owners, managers or whoever it is in charge of kobra should please take note. No money no blog! Do i get a 'you're right' lol
