Meltdown

- (22/02/09 10:46)
That title brings to mind one of Jet Li's movies (highrisk is the other name for the film). However, movies aint what i'm talking about; rather it's financial meltdown (or economic meltdown in more technical terms). Recent reports have been suggesting that world economy is declining at an alarming rate and while other countries are tackling the problem head-on, ours is busy fooling us with their slogans of 'calm down' and 'there's nothing to worry about'. Too bad for the government, stuffs like this are like smoke, they cannot be hidden. Nigerians are now aware of the threat of this two-named monster what with the rapid and drastic drop in the value of shares. Thank goodness that the government has also woken up from its slumber and are making giant strides towards 'curbing' this problem. My concern, however, is that is it that the prices of goods will increase or that there will be general scarcity of money while prices of goods remain fixed or what exactly is this economic meltdown>>

Back In The Days II

....all that kids watch are now reality shows such as fear factor, ultimate search, who wants to be a millionaire etc. Well, those shows aint bad, it's just that kids generally don't have solid foundation no more. I, with all sense of pride can still recite most of my nursery rhymes but i can bet my kid sisters will find it hard to even recite 5 but they'll reel out the superstory and dear mother episodes in no time! Maybe it's cos of what we expose them to nowadays that's causing all this but then even the tv stations no longer have programmes for kids; no more tales by moonlight or speakout suggesting that the stations have realised the loss of interest in those programmes. Hmm, only time will tell sha whether today's kids are better than us but i, personally, still loved my Ali, Simbi, Agbo, Edet, Wakama, Mr. & Mrs. Salami stories lol. Peace!

Back In The Days

..dem mama used to bone but now wen dy see us dem dy run run come follow we..' those were the lyrics (or so i thought) of one Sound Sultan's songs. Not to worry, i'm not going the music way today but i was just pondering upon the stark difference that is noticeable among kids nowadays and those of my 'old school' generation. I still remember how we used to freaked by tom n jerry cartoons, ali n simbi of the macmillian fame, turtle ninjas, superted, voltron, nursery rhymes and a whole lot of other kiddies stuff. However, it's baffling to note that kids nowadays cannot be 'bought' with all those lies any longer. They are so sharp now that some of them would even hiss at the sight of tom n jerry. My 4yr old cousin knows almost all the wrestling superstars while a friend once told me about how his very young brother bought a DVD series cheaper than he does! To make matters worse, all those children tv programmes like cadbury weekend breakfast show are not even airing again;.......

*>Greedy Students<*

- (19/02/09 05:43)
Na wa o; just a couple of days ago, i could give an arm just to leave to school and come back home. I, finally, got my wish but after spending 4days at home, i've already started feeling schoolsick! Weird, isn't it? I guess i'm not the only one in these shoes anyway cos i feel this is usually a general feeling and not just peculiar with me. I still don't understand why people, or betterstill students, feel this way - one moment wanting to go home and the other moment wanting to go back to school - but i do know that everything boils down to 'greed' on our part lol. We want to enjoy the company of schoolmates as well as the freedom associated with school but at the same time we want to enjoy the delicious free meals(without anybody pokenosing as obtained in school) and comfortable sleeping environment. Hmm, this is when i get really envious of those who school where you live ie so-called 'daystudents' cos you are able to combine these 'enjoyments' lol. Anyway, i'm outta here!

Check This Out!

- (17/02/09 10:26)
Hmm, this blog i'm writing is something i had been patiently waiting for in a long time, not because it's something very special but because eversince i've been reading blogs i had never come across a blog like this one (well, perhaps you might have seen something close to this because i'm still a relatively new member compared to some other people) and don't even think this is a matter of blowing my own trumpet - i'm still rated as a beginner in my trumpet blowing classes lol - but rather this piece is just another of my several crazy blogs that i, with all sense of seriousness and sincerity, also have absolutely no idea what it means or depicts - despite reading it over and over again - asides the fact that it's the first (and i hope this will not be the last) full-length blog that i will see posted here on kobra blog that will be written in just one single sentence!
